I Got Confused While Setting Goals - Are You?

Many of the success gurus speak of goal setting. In fact, goal setting is so leading in holding the laws of success, that if any one purporting to be a success guru minimizes goals setting, they are not the "real deal".

Even so, while learning so many success laws and principles, I would get confused by the goal setting process. I would hear that I needed a clear concise, measurable goal and then I would hear that I needed to reveal how I wanted my life to turn out. I would learn of foresight boards and life visions. Bob Proctor teaches to begin writing a clear goal by starting out with "I am so happy and grateful now that I..." fill in the blank. In fact, fill in two or three pages of whatever.

All of this was very confusing for me because I saw it all as one mechanism - a goal. I did not comprehend I could break the process down into some smaller parts. I did not comprehend that when chunking down goals, I need to start with the general or big idea and then break it down into smaller pieces. When I had that "aha", the obscuring dissipated and clarity prevailed. So permit me to explain for you how I did it.

I started with the big photograph and work down into the relevant details. That means I began by writing my life vision. What's a life vision? In a nutshell it is an overview of how you want your life to be. Some population write it as though it was the last day of their life on earth and now they are describing what their life was like in hind sight. Others use Bob Proctor's script, "I am so happy and grateful, now that I...".

One thing to keep in mind is to use the gift tense in all your verb usage. You know, 'I am', 'I do', 'I have'. Avoid time to come tense, such as 'I will' or 'I want' and past tense such as 'I was', 'I did' or 'I had'

It is a good idea to establish your life into categories and write about your life in the context of those categories. Some categories might include: your inner, or spiritual life; your relationships, or family life; your bodily life and health; your emotional life and health; your business, your career, and your financial life, dreams and aspirations. Woven throughout these categories you will write your life's purpose, your mission, your message to the world.

Your life foresight most likely will contain life-long goals, but not something you expect to perform next month or this year. However, other obscuring I had about life visions was that they are carved in granite. They are not. I had one mentor tell me she rewrote her life foresight about 6-10 times per year.

How long should your life foresight be? You will be reading, or listening to it at least twice a day for the rest of your life. So if you were to read it out loud, it should take you about 10-15 minutes to read. Some population take as much as 20 minutes to read their life vision.

Once you have written a life vision, you can now chunk your more definite goals down to annual or monthly goals, or even more specific. These are the goals you will write down separately and read about 70 times per week. Again, these goals are specific, measurable and written in the gift tense as well.

The third kind of goals is the foresight board. This is goal setting at its most fun. You absolutely originate a "tic-tac-toe" (nine boxes) on your wall with painters tape, or you can get as explain as you want. Me, I took an old framed picture, purchased from a thrift store, and put my nine boxes on it in duct tape. Pretty sophisticated huh? Then you place pictures or three by five cards in the boxes. Make sure you reveal your foresight board for three minutes in the morning when you first get up and for three minutes at night before you go to bed.

So here are the three main ways to set your goals; a life vision, definite goals that are chunked down to a detailed level and your foresight board. I recommend doing all three. There will be some overlapping of your goals in the middle of the three methods, but hey, I would want all the reinforcement I can get, wouldn't you?

This rehearsal is to be carried out in pairs or individually. The exercising pupil closes her eyes and asks herself a question. The exercising pupil then describes out loud her reasoning visual imagery either to other pupil or to a tape recorder. Describing of the reasoning images should be flowing and streaming. In the process of describing the images she sees in her mind, the pupil should couple on sensory details. For example, "I feel the softness of the fresh laundry", "my feet are pressed against the cold tiles", "I smell the rain-soaked air." The pupil should aim to make her live or possible listener vividly sense what she sees. In order to create and assert the flow of streaming imagery, the pupil should ask herself new questions as to the nature of objects she sees in her mind and explore them in detail. Relaying the reasoning images should be done in a hastened pace to avoid judgment and considerable thinking. Image streaming is to be exercised for at least 10 minutes each time. Over time, this rehearsal improves creativity and intelligence.

Creativity rehearsal #2 - Challenge customary Thinking

This rehearsal can be practiced in a group or individually. Routine reasoning is good for every day tasks, since you achieve the task without employing your mind and wasting energy on the reasoning process. For example, if you take the same route to work every day, you soon drive on auto-pilot. If, however, you have a task that requires you take a distinct route, then you have to couple and be aware of the left and right turns you make. If your thoughts drift, you will find yourself going unintentionally in the regular route. If you wish to rehearsal creativity in solving problems, you have to stay clear of Routine thinking. This can be achieved by forcing the mind to find new routes. Instructions: make a list of words and write each word on a card. For each word instruct the students to come up with 2 associated words and write these down on separate cards as well. You now have groups of three words each. And now for the creative part: randomly pick two unassociated words and instruct your students to come up with an connection between the two seemingly unrelated words. This will force their reasoning process to form an unfamiliar route, a connection between two dots that were unconnected until now. Forcing our mind to find new trails that connect A and B is exactly what enhances creativity. Along the same lines, you can try these variation: make a basic outline map of the United States without state names. Instead of state names, write down names of world countries. For example, instead of Texas write Canada, instead of California write France. And so on. Now ask your students to find associations between the state and the country. Remember that we are not after any correct answer. We are exercising this in order to originate new roads. So don't test your students' knowledge. Encourage them to come up with any connection they can think of. It can enumerate to culture, economy, language, but it can also enumerate to the spelling of the names or to their pronunciation. Be open.

Creativity rehearsal #3 - The Gods Must Be Crazy

An African Bushman, unaware of white culture, discovers an empty Coca Cola bottle in the Kalahari Desert. The bushman closely examines this mystical object (casually dropped by a passing pilot), wondering what it is good for. He then tries blowing into it, and is very pleased to learn that it makes a noise. In this creativity rehearsal you encourage your students to become Bushmen. I mean it. You need to regain 5 to 10 props. You display a prop to your students and ask them to find a new use for it. This rehearsal encourages creativity since it troops the reasoning process to erase or ignore what is known and come up with fresh ways of finding at something familiar.

Creativity rehearsal #4 - Music's Story

Play a piece of classical music, preferably one that your students don't know. Dim the lights, instruct your students to close their eyes and listen closely to the music. The music tells a story, it tells about the weather, about a poor or rich man, about mad love that is now dying. Ask each pupil to follow every plot twist, every change of atmosphere. Then stop the music and ask your students to write down their stories, with as much information as possible.

The built-in speakers of the Acer 5542G clearly lacks the bass and was a discontentment while our tests. The sound clearly lacks the thump element in it. It doesn't mean that the speakers are worthless. The speakers give you very nice high and medium range frequencies quite well. The audio volume levels were loud enough and will be enough if you are not in the middle of a very noisy environment.

Battery:

The Acer 5542G comes with a 6-cell battery pack. It would probably disappoint you, if you are finding for a laptop with 3+ hours battery backup. The lower battery backup can be attributed to the modestly big 15.6" display paired with the dedicated graphics card that can drain out quite a lot of battery power. With the screen radiance at low, I was able to get a 2 hours 50 minutes backup with no audio, video or games turned on. At top carrying out setting, you can expect roughly two hours of battery backup.

Heating:

Though the Acer 5542G gets away with the heat quite well, it would be a good option to get an effective laptop cooling pad if you are into serious gaming.

Other components:

The Acer 5542G comes with a good Dvd Writer, Bluetooth, Wireless Lan etc. These devices performs quite well and doesn't seem to have any exact points worth mentioning.

Accessories:

The laptop comes with a nice backpack from Targus with Acer logo on it. The backpack has enough space to carry some extra stuff in it while you are on the move. It's build quality is good and provides enough cushioning for the laptop compartment.

Conclusion:

Acer 5542G is a laptop that brings great value to those on a budget, who need excellent processing and graphics performance. I very advise it for all gaming enthusiasts and graphics designers, owing to the excellent carrying out of the processor and the graphics explication built-in. It's fine processor can meet most of the ultimate computing needs unless your needs target the ultra-high-end like an i7. Just another gameplay test yet again done on request. This one is of Crysis Warhead, I get an average of 30-50 FPS without FRAPS on Gamer Settings (High Settings). And about 28-42 FPS with FRAPS with the same settings. This game has awesome graphics, even at medium, similar to Metro 2033.
